AFCOT 2020 49 European Cotton Alliance (ECA) & EUCOTTON TM La présentation officielle de l’Alliance Européenne du Coton (ECA) et de EUCOTTON TM s’est tenue lors d’une manifestation spéciale au Parlement Européen de Bruxelles le 16 octobre 2019. Un an plus tard, avec la propagation de la pandémie covid19 et alors que la plupart des pays font face à des défis sans précédent, l’initiative prend de l’élan et devient plus pertinente que jamais... Membres fondateurs L’Alliance a été créée début février 2019 avec la participation de différentes associations représentant le secteur du coton en Europe, de la production de coton et de l’industrie textile. Les membres fondateurs de l’Alliance sont : • Association Interprofessionnelle Grecque du Coton (DOB); • Association Hellénique des Producteurs et Exportateurs de Coton (HCA), • La Fédération des Industriels Grecs du Textile (SEVK); • L’Association Espagnole des Egreneurs de Coton (AEDA); • L’Association des Egreneurs Espagnols de Coton du Sud (ADESUR), • Le Centre National du Coton en Espagne (CAN); • L’Association Interprofessionnelle Espagnole de Coton. En outre, EUROCOTON, l’Association européenne des fabricants de textiles basée à Bruxelles, a accepté de rejoindre l’Alliance en tant que membre associé dans le cadre d’un accord de partenariat spécial. Objectifs Les objectifs les plus importants de l’Alliance, conformément aux dispositions des Statuts de l’Organisation, sont les suivants: - Contribuer à l’harmonisation des politiques européennes en matière de production de coton dans l’ensemble des états membres de l’UE. - Promouvoir et accroître la production de coton dans l’UE en appliquant des pratiques durables et respectueuses de l’environnement et de traçabilité de la production. - Établir une collaboration et une coopération harmonieuses entre les producteurs de coton et les industries textiles impliquées dans la transformation du coton. FoundingMembers The Alliance has been established at the beginning of February 2019 with the participation of various associations representing the cotton sector in Europe, the production of cotton and the textile industry. Founding members of the Alliance are: • The Greek Inter-Professional Association of Cotton (DOB), • The Hellenic Cotton Association of Ginners and Exporters (HCA), • The Federation of Greek Textile Industrialists (SEVK), • The Spanish Association of Cotton Ginners (AEDA), • The Association of Spanish Cotton Ginners of the South (ADESUR) , • The National Cotton Centre in Spain (CAN), • The Spanish Inter-Professional Association of Cotton. In addition, EUROCOTON, the European Association of textile manufacturers in Brussels, agreed to join the Alliance as an associate member through a special partnership agreement. Aims &Objectives The most important aims and objectives of the Alliance according to the provisions of the Statutes of the Organization are: - To contribute to the harmonization of the European policies in relation with the cotton production in the whole of the EU member states. - To promote and increase the cotton production in the EU through sustainable and environmental-friendly practices and traceability of production. - To establish the harmonic collaboration and cooperation among the cotton producers and the textile industries involved in the processing of cotton.
